Mojang have yet to explicitly confirm the exact release date for the Minecraft 1.20 Trails & Tales update, however, many suspect that it’ll arrive during Summer 2023.

The soon to be released update sometime in the summer of 2023 is called "Trails and Tales," and it's all about storytelling and creativity.
And you bet your DIAMONDS there are Minecraft 1.20 snapshots to be seen! In fact, the first snapshot for Minecraft 1.20 brought in camels and all the rest of the new stuff known right now such as the sniffer which won last year's community mob vote, cherry blossom biomes (including new wood types), the new bamboo allowing players to craft a raft, as well as functional book shelves and hanging signs as this update is centred around personalising builds through new discoveries and contraptions.
Do you tend to play Minecraft by spawning in and thwacking the first hostile mob you see? Then I have good news for you! You can now protect yourself in style with a new feature: the customizable shield.
You'll be able to find a new type of sand—amusingly called "suspicious sand"—near desert temples.
You can then work up the new brush tool to whisk away all the suspicious sand in an attempt to unearth everything from pottery shards, hidden tools, and bones, to sniffer eggs, which are the most adorable consolation prize imaginable.
Mojang also introduced armour trims, colourful customisation for all your armour pieces. You can find smithing templates out in the world and then bring them back to a smithing table to modify your armour.
There are also new potions colors (ooo, distinguishable!), new sniffer breeding mechanics (ooo eggs!) and even a brand-new seed for your newly de-experimentified sniffer friends to seek out: the pitcher pod!
